Chipman: “… the Lord has
called me …”

ACCORD – Carl Chipman has been Rochester Town Supervisor for 10 years. He will not seek re-election this fall and will instead begin his full-time service to the church.
Chipman, who just turned 57, will begin his journey to be ordained in the Permanent Deaconate of the Roman Catholic Church, a journey that will take some four years.
“The greatest joy I get and have gotten as supervisor has been helping others,” he said. “This is just a continuation of that and to preach the word of God at the same time. I get great joy from this and the Lord has called me and I realize now that this is something I have to do.”
Chipman said when he first took over at town hall, town government was a mess. “We went from being a backwater version of the Wild Wild West to being a progressive leader of other towns in our region and the state.”
