POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess County Democratic Committee endorsed two candidates for the November elections.
Meeting on Saturday, members endorsed Judge Christi Acker for State Supreme Court justice and business owner Robin Lois for county comptroller.
Acker, a town justice in Pine Plains for nine years and principal court attorney to acting Supreme Court Justice James Rooney since 2001, was elected to her third term as Pine Plains town magistrate in 2015, running on both the Democratic and Republican lines.  Prior to serving in public office, Acker was a private practice attorney.
The Supreme Court race involves the Ninth Judicial District representing the counties of Rockland, Orange, Putnam, Dutchess and Westchester.
Lois has 30 years of experience in accounting, finance, budgeting and internal monetary control systems. She owns and operates two local businesses and holds an MBA.
County Democratic Chairwoman Elisa Sumner said the committee is “putting forth two incredibly qualified candidates to serve the people of Dutchess.”
