STONY POINT – Police are looking for a man who held up the night clerk at the Mobil gas station on South Liberty Street in Stony Point early Tuesday and made off with cash.
The suspect, who had his face covered with a white towel, jumped the counter at around 12:40 a.m. and threatened the clerk with a hammer. He forced the clerk to open the register and then made off with the tray containing cash. The robber then forced the employee into a bathroom before fleeing the store.
Stony Point Police were assisted by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Patrol, BCI, and K-9 units and Haverstraw Town Police.
