Pair arrested for second time in four months

KINGSTON – The Ulster Police Department arrested a man and woman on charges stemming from a commercial break-in.
Michael Sanfilippo, 39, of Pleasant Valley and Jessica Merck, 27, of Cottekill, are in the Dutchess County Jail in connection with charges that they pulled off an armed robbery of the Smoke for Less store in LaGrange on
November 29, 2016.
In a separate incident on October 28, 2016 at about 1:15 a.m., Ulster Police responded to the Hudson Valley Cycle Center on Route 28 where they found the front glass door has been smashed in attempts to gain entry.
Sanfilippo and Merck were identified as the suspects and arrested on the Ulster charges while they remain in the Dutchess County Jail.
The latest charges include felonies of attempted burglary and criminal mischief as a misdemeanor of possession of burglar tools.
The Ulster Police were assisted by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, State Police, and East Fishkill Town Police.
