Latest Newburgh murder victim to be laid to rest on Friday

NEWBURGH – A funeral service for Gevontay Owens-Grant, the Newburgh man who died after being shot while at a party in the city on February 12, will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at The House of Refuge on Lower Broadway in the City of Newburgh.
The Valentine party was being held in the basement of 253 South William Street in Newburgh. When gunfire rang out, three other people were also struck and wounded.
Owens-Grant, 24, was the son of Tamika Owens Wilder and Howard Defreece. He is also survived by three sisters, a brother, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Authorities continue to investigate the shootings.
