BLOOMING GROVE – Police arrested a Blooming Grove man and charged him in connection with the hit-and-run motor vehicle accident Sunday evening that resulted in the death of another man.
Around 6:30 p.m., police were called to the Glenwood Road area of Blooming Grove where they found Eliu Rivera, 56, of Blooming Grove lying in the middle of the road. He was transported to St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh where he died a short time later.
A joint investigation by Blooming Grove and State Police resulted in the arrest of Richard Aiello, 37, who was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident with additional charges pending investigation. He was located along with his car at his residence a short distance from the accident scene.
Assisting at the scene of the accident was the Salisbury Mills Fire Department.
