Saugerties man charged with possession of heroin

TOWN OF ULSTER – Officers from the URGENT Task Force and Ulster County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Saugerties man on February 14 on charges of criminal possession of drugs following a traffic stop.
Police said Tristan Mortensen, 26, was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over on I-587, also known as Colonel Chandler Drive in the Town of Ulster and was found in possession of 89 decks of heroin and a hypodermic syringe.  He was charged with felony and misdemeanor drug possession and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument.  He also potentially faces violations with the state Division of Parole.
Mortensen was sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $30,000 cash bail or $60,000 bond.
The driver of the vehicle was charged with traffic violations for failure to signal a lane change.
