GOSHEN – Orange County Democratic Party Chairman Brett Broge said that it is not unheard of for a politician from one party to endorse a candidate from another, but he warned it could be a slippery slope.
Broge’s comments on Friday came a day after Democratic Middletown Mayor Joseph DeStefano formally endorsed Republican William DeProspo for county court judge.
“I certainly advise against it and they do so at their own peril,” Borge said. “I am certainly am never in favor of it happening whether it is a town board member, or city mayor or congressman.”
Broge expects to have his own Democratic candidate to run against DeProspo in the November election.
