STONY POINT – A special education teacher in the North Rockland
School District has been arrested and charged with physically and mentally
abusing several special needs children under her care while in a classroom
setting.

Stony Point Town Police charged Yessenia Vasquez, 43, of Garnerville on
February 16 after the department received a complaint from the state Child
Abuse hot line in January.

She allegedly committed the crimes between February 1, 2016 and November
28, 2016 and was arrested following an investigation.

Vasquez was charged with four counts each of endangering the welfare of
an incompetent or physically disabled person, endangering the welfare
of a minor and harassment as well as one count of unlawful imprisonment.

She was released on an appearance ticket returnable to town court.
