STANFORD – A 27-year-old
Stanford woman died Sunday evening when her car flipped over into Wappinger
Creek off Bulls Head Road in the area of Depot Lane in Stanford.

Responding state troopers and Stanford firefighters entered the water
and attempted to remove the woman, later identified as Lynette Ruffin.
She was finally removed from the car with the aid of first responders
and tow truck operators and rushed to MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie
by Stanford Ambulance, where she was pronounced dead.

Police said the investigation indicated Ruffin was driving on Bulls Head
Road shortly after 5 p.m. when her vehicle ran off the road, struck a
guide rail, slid along the railing and fell into the creek upside down.

Northern Dutchess Paramedics also responded to the scene to evaluate first
responders.
