KINGSTON – A lieutenant in the patrol unit of the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office is recuperating after his marked patrol car skidded on an icy road in the Town of Rosendale and slammed into a utility pole.
Lt. Eric Benjamin, a 32-year veteran of the agency, suffered what officials said was “significant head trauma.” He was transported by Mobile Life Support Services to Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley Broadway Campus in Kingston, where he was treated for severe lacerations. He was later released and is recovering, they reported.
Benjamin was driving on Dewitt Mills Road at about 3:40 p.m. on Thursday, February 9 when the accident happened.
