Two students, car driver, injured in head-on crash with school bus

SAUGERTIES – Two children
aboard a First Student school bus and the driver of a car were treated
for minor injuries at the Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley Hospital’s
Broadway Campus Monday afternoon after the car struck the bus head-on.

Saugerties Police said a car driven by Noel DeFino, 49, of Saugerties,
was driving at an unsafe speed eastbound on West Saugerties Road at 2:48
p.m. when she hit a patch of snow in the road, lost control, and struck
the bus. James Cook was operating the bus westbound on West Saugerties
Road at that the time.

The investigation is continuing.

Police will charge DeFino with speed not reasonable and prudent and failure
to keep right.

Saugerties Police were assisted by State Police, Diaz Ambulance and the
Centerville Fire Department.
