POUGHKEEPSIE – Consultants are finishing up design for the new Dutchess County Law Enforcement Center in Poughkeepsie, which will include a new jail and sheriff’s office.
County Executive Marcus Molinaro said as that project moves forward, slightly behind schedule but on budget, the next step is designing the Justice and Transition Center, to be located on the same campus.
“We are moving forward with final design of the law enforcement center, which will allow us to rehab a building in the City of Poughkeepsie,” he said. “Move the sheriff’s office, which will enable us to demolish an expensive, outdated and insecure sheriff’s office so we can build the transition center.”.
Molinaro said the campus will reduce the total cost to the taxpayer and help people “break the cycle” of criminal behavior.
