Four arrested for South Fallsburg burglary; one charged with torturing dog

SOUTH FALLSBURG – Four men were arrested and charged with burglarizing a residence in South Fallsburg during the end of the summer and stealing antiques, furniture, electronics, alcohol and kitchen and glassware items, all valued at over $14,000.
Fallsburg Town Police were tipped off when an animal cruelty complaint was received by the town animal control officer of a dog found dead in a dumpster.
Arrested in connection with the burglary were Matthew Cruz, 21, Brandon Serrano-Gonzalez, 19, and two 17-year-old men. They were all charged with burglary, grand larceny and criminal mischief, all as felonies.
Cruz was also charged with overdriving, torturing and injuring animals and failure to provide proper sustenance.
Cruz, Serrano-Gonzalez and one of the 17-year-olds were committed to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. The other 17-year-old is held in lieu of $25,000 cash or bond.
