HUNTER – Police are investigating
the death of a Warwick man while skiing at Hunter Mountain. State Police
are treating the incident as an accidental fall and do not suspect foul
play.

Edwin Wood, 58, who was said to be an expert skier, was skiing on the
Annapurna trail, a double black diamond – expert – train on
Hunter’s west side, police said. He lost control and slid approximately
200 feet before leaving the rail and striking several trees.

Wood was extricated by the ski patrol and treated by Greene County Paramedics
and Hunter Area Ambulance personnel before being pronounced dead.

An autopsy is scheduled for a later date.

Hunter Police assisted State Police from the Catskill barracks.
