RED HOOK – The Town of Red Hook has been designated a Clean Energy Community by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority for its leadership in reducing energy use, cutting costs and driving clean energy locally.
The town received the designation for completing four of 10 high-impact
clean energy actions identified by NYSERDA. The designation gives Red
Hook the opportunity to apply for up to $100,000 toward additional clean
energy projects with no local share.
As part of the town’s clean energy effort, Town Supervisor Robert McKeon said it is installing electric vehicle charging stations at Town Hall and converting its street lights to LEDs.
The state’s goal is to reach 50 percent of its electricity supply from renewable energy resources by 2030.
