TOWN OF WALLKILL – Firefighters from 11 departments assisted the Mechanicstown Fire Department battle a fully involved dairy barn fire at 22 Camp Orange Road in the Mechanicstown section of the Town of Wallkill.
The structure contained bales of hay.
The four-alarm blaze was called in around 8:25 a.m. on Monday and Orange County Fire Coordinator Vini Tankasali said overhaul was expected to take several hours because of the smoldering hay. By early evening, smoke was still seen rising from the site.
There were no reports of injuries to fire responders. The cause is under investigation by the Orange County Office of Emergency Management and the fire coordinator’s office.
