NEWBURGH – As Norwegian Airlines awaits final approval to fly new Boeing 737-Max jets between Stewart Airport and Europe, the airline’s employee contractor has begun advertising for flight attendants to be based at the Newburgh area airport.
The OSM Aviation Group is advertising on Webrecruiter for flight attendants. The ad does not specify how many are being sought.
The qualifications include a minimum of a high school education; legal authorization to work in the United States and possess a valid passport; be at least five feet, three inches tall; be able to swim at least 200 meters; have a clean criminal record; good physics; be able to work full-time irregular hours; be fluent in English; and be able to document the last five years of employment, study time and other activities like longer stays abroad.
Personal qualities include having a friendly and outgoing personality; previous experience with hospitality or customer service; safety-focused, service-minded and high flexibility; and strong interpersonal and communication skills.”
The FAA last week said it was still reviewing the airline’s application. Company spokesman Anders Lindstrom said they expect to have formal announcement about Stewart service soon.
Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney (D, NY18), whose district includes the airport, said he supports additional service at Stewart to promote the facility as a regional economic engine, but he said safety is paramount and he is looking into the status of the FAA review.
