SPCA rescues cats from East Fishkill home

HYDE PARK – Investigators from the Dutchess County SPCA Humane
Law Enforcement unit have removed 67 cats from a home in East Fishkill
and the owner of the animals, who relinquished them to the SPCA, will
appear in local court for a probation violation stemming from previous
animal cruelty charges.

The owner’s name was not released by the SPCA.

Agency Director Wayne Mabey estimated the costs associated with this case
to be more than $20,000 to cover the expense of everything from checkups
to critical care surgery.

The SPCA is seeking money donations to replenish vaccines and other supplies
depleted from the influx of felines. They also need Purina Cat Chow and
canned cat food of any variety.

All of the cats will be evaluated to determine placement needs.
