Ten grants announced through Restore NY program

ALBANY – A total of 10
municipalities in the Hudson Valley have been awarded grants through Round
Four of the state’s Restore NY initiative.

Kingston will receive $500,000, which will be used for two projects, said
Mayor Steven Noble.

“This funding will be used to knock down and demolition the bowling
alley to prepare the site. The other allows the city to take three of
its vacant, abandoned properties it has taken for back taxes renovate,
rejuvenate and get into the hands of homeowners who are interested in
getting into new housing,” he said.

The bowling alley site on Cedar Street will be developed into 57 mixed
income rental units and commercial space for not-for-profits a groups.
It is all part of RUPCO’s “Energy Square” initiative.

Other grants include:

* Yonkers, which will receive $2 million for the redevelopment of three
vacant buildings in the Wheeler Bock of the downtown including a storefront
façade;
* Town of Dover, which will receive $500,000 for Dover Greens;
* Village of Highland Falls, which will receive $500,000 for the Flagship
development;
* City of Middletown, which will get $500,000 for the Middletown Community
Campus redevelopment;
* Village of Wappingers Falls, which will receive $500,000 for Main Street
revitalization;
* Town of Yorktown, which will receive $413,760 for Depot Square;
* City of New Rochelle, which will receive $265,730 for Echo Bay;
* City of Port Jervis, which will receive $120,000 for Restore NY 2016;
* Town of Wallkill, which will receive $120,000 for Sheffield Drive rehabilitation.
