GOSHEN – The Ways and Means Committee of the Orange County Legislature approved taking the necessary step toward bonding of $375,000 for the extension of the Heritage Trail from Monroe to Harriman.
The popular walking, jogging and biking trail that runs from Goshen to Monroe now, could see work on the extension this spring, said committee Chairman Leigh Benton.  He said the county will bond for the money for this leg of the trail, which will also see it extended to Middletown.
City officials there believe it will be a major economic development tool and draw tourists to Middletown.
