WHITE PLAINS – The four-county Hudson Gateway Multiple Listing Service region posted the best real estate sales results since the post-recession recovery period began in 2011. Home sales in the Orange-Rockland-Putnam-Westchester region increased 12.5 percent between 2015 and 2016 alone.
The greatest gains on both a percentage and volume basis from 2015 to 2016 were in Orange County with a 24.3 percent increase.
During the same period, home sales rose by 19.5 percent in Putnam County, by 12.3 percent in Rockland County and by 7.7 percent in Westchester.
All four counties have been confronting a tightening inventory, but it
is not yet so low as to stall the market, but is low enough to increase
pressure for speedier decision-making by prospective buyers, the MLS reported.
Real estate officials say they expect 2017 to be another strong year.
