WASHINGTONVILLE – A “non-specific”
phone threat made to Washingtonville High School at 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday
resulted in an evacuation of the high school and middle school.

Safety protocol was followed and students first went into shelter in-place.
Police were notified and swept the outside of the building. Students were
then safely evacuated and escorted to their buses without incident.

All after-school activities were cancelled.

Just before 4 p.m., district officials said police completed a search
of the high school building and its perimeter and determined the building
to be safe.

The phone threat made on Tuesday was determined to be unsubstantiated,
district officials said.

Schools are to be open on Wednesday.

Police are continuing to investigate the threat.
