New Paltz man charged with stabbing his dog

NEW PALTZ – A 36-year-old
New Paltz man has been charged with stabbing his dog, Bandit, with a pair
of pruning shears. The dog sustained injury to its hind leg during the
incident at the home of Daniel Abbott on Pamal Lane.

Bandit received medical care and is being held at the Ulster County SPCA’s
Kingston location.

Abbott was charged with a misdemeanor under state Agriculture and Markets
law with one count of unjustifiably injuring an animal.

He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to town court.
