GOSHEN – An Orange County grand jury indicted Jauntae Brown, 20, of Spring Valley, in the killing of Silver Lake firefighter Justin Speights on New Year’s morning of 2016.
Speights, also 20, was stabbed to death with a knife when he tried to break up a fight outside a house party. It took law enforcement almost a year to track down and put together leads that led to Brown’s arrest.
The indictment charges Brown with murder, manslaughter, tampering with physical evidence and criminal possession of a weapon.
Two other men were also arrested for allegedly tampering with physical evidence in the case.
