Off-duty police officer charged in fatal crash

WHITE PLAINS – An off-duty
New Rochelle city police officer has been charged with vehicular manslaughter
and DWI after his car crashed into a tree in on Mamaroneck Avenue White
Plains about 3 Monday morning.
White Plains Police Commissioner David Chong said Henry Kyreakedes, 27, who has been with the New Rochelle Department for a little over a year, had a blood-alcohol content of .23 percent, or almost three times the legal limit.
Isaac Ward, 27, died in the hospital.
“This is a vivid reminder of the tragedies of drinking and driving and what can possibly happen,” Chong said.        
New Rochelle City Manager Chuck Strome called the crash “a tragic accident.”
