POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Democratic Party Chairwoman Elisa Sumner is calling on Democrats to stand together, put aside minor differences and “continue to uphold the principles that keep us a compassionate country.” In a message to fellow Democrats, said she the 2016 election “saw our worst nightmares come true.” But she said Democrats don’t throw in the towel. “We stand strongest together.”
Saying local elections are “the foundation for larger races,” Sumner said the party needs candidates “who will become our next generation of leaders.”
Democrats must work together so “we can stop the Trump miasma permeating our county. Only together can we turn Dutchess County blue,” she said.
