NORTH SALEM – A Somers youth was arrested on Thursday and charged with arson, burglary and criminal mischief, all as felonies, in connection with a residential break-in in the Town of Somers.
Jeremiah Healy, 17, was arrested following an investigation. He was arraigned and released on $2,000 bail.
On December 10, State Police were called to investigate a burglary at a house on Fox Den Lane in the Town of North Salem. The homeowner told police when he returned home, he observed an unfamiliar vehicle pulling out of his driveway. The home was found to have a broken kitchen window and fire damage.  It was determined that a flammable accelerant was spread in areas of the home.
Based on a vague description of the vehicle pulling out of the driveway, State Police were able to track down and identify Healy who was charged with deliberately setting the house on fire with gasoline.
Police said the homeowner and Healy did not know one another.
