Current offer for the Sain Building is $.5 million over appraised value

NEW CITY – Rockland County Executive Edwin Day proposed a three-point plan to provide funding to nonprofits without damaging county finances. Money for those nonprofits was not included in the 2017 budget by the county legislature.
Day’s plan would apply $50,000 from his mailing budget; $31,200 from the legislature’s mailing budget and $510,000 from the sale of the Sain Building for a total of $591,200 for the nonprofits. He also proposed making the nonprofits formal contract agencies with the county.
Day said the county has an offer for $4.51 million to sell the Sain Building in New City.  That’s $510,000 over the appraised value.
The county executive’s proposal comes following a plan by the county legislature to fund 31 nonprofit public benefit organizations for the first half of 2017.
