Man with knife found in residence

NEW PALTZ – Police in New Paltz arrested a man who was reported to have been found in a residence while armed with a knife.
William Carr, 30, of New Paltz, was found just before 6 a.m. on December 23 and charged with menacing, petit larceny and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Police had been called to the residence at 5:15 a.m. for a report of an unwanted man in the residence who was armed with a knife.
The man, who was known to the victim, fled before officers arrived, but he was identified and located a short distance away where he was found in possession of the knife.
Carr was sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
New Paltz Police were assisted by State Police, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, and SUNY New Paltz Police.
