TOWN OF NEWBURGH – A Kingston man was killed Thursday afternoon when the pickup truck in which he was riding slammed into a large tree in the Leptondale section of the Town of Newburgh.
Town Police identified the victim as Detrell Pittman, 37. He died at the scene.
The driver of the truck, James Black, 29, also of Kingston, was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center for treatment.
The cause of the crash on Quaker Street south of Mill Street remains under investigation. Police said the road was straight and dry.
