Putnam pedestrian killed when struck by two vehicles

TOWN OF SOUTHEAST – A pedestrian walking in the roadway on Route 6 just east of Putnam County Route 121 in the Town of Southeast was struck by two vehicles and killed.  The 6:10 p.m. accident occurred on Wednesday, December 21.
State Police said a 60-year-old Southeast woman was westbound in the right lane of Route 6 when she struck the man, who was walking in the roadway. Another westbound vehicle in the left lane, driven by a 17-year-old man from Danbury, Connecticut, was unable to take evasion action and also struck the pedestrian, a Town of Southeast man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neither driver was suspected of any wrong-doing.
The crash was reconstructed by the State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit. Also at the scene were the Putnam County Coroner, EMSTAR ambulance, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and Brewster Fire Department.
