Naked man tried to burn down house, police say

SHAWANGUNK – A 23-year-old
Bronx man was committed to the Ulster County Jail on Friday after he was
arrested for running around naked in the Town of Shawangunk and setting
an occupied house on fire in an attempt to burn it down.

Daniel Keddis was charged with arson and reckless endangerment, both as
felonies for using an accelerant to light the house on fire. In the process
of lighting the house on fire, police said he unintentionally lit himself
on fire.

He was located near the scene, arrested and remanded to the county jail
in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond.

State Police from several barracks responded to the scene, including from
Ellenville, Highland, Middletown as well as the Ulster County Sheriff’s
Office.
