Brewster man charged with rape of 13-year-old he met on Facebook

CARMEL – An 18-year-old Brewster man has been arrested by the Putnam
County Sheriff’s Office on a rape charge for allegedly having sex
with a 13-year-old girl he met on Facebook.

Christian Salazar-Miguel was arrested on Wednesday, December 21 following
an investigation into the crime that occurred on November17 at his Brewster
residence.

Salazar-Miguel was charged with having a sexual relationship with the
victim as well sending her nude photos of himself.

In addition to the rape, police charged him disseminating indecent material
to a minor, sexual misconduct, and endangering the welfare of a child.

He was remanded to the county jail in lieu of $150,000 cash bail or $300,000
bond.

If found guilty of the most serious charge, he could face up to seven
years in state prison.

Sheriff Donald Smith urged any other potential victims of Salazar-Miguel
to come forward and call the Bureau of Criminal Investigation at 845-225-4300.
