KINGSTON – Officials of the Ulster Performing Arts Center in Kingston are going to perform significant upgrades to the facilities including to the heat and air conditioning systems so they can provide year round performances. To that end, the non-profit organization is seeking for-profit status to secure funding.
The Ulster County Industrial Development Agency Wednesday approved financial incentives for the project, said IDA Board Chairman Michael Horodyski.
“They don’t pay any taxes now so because they were going for-profit, they wanted to make sure they continued to pay no taxes,” Horodyski said. “That’s where the PILOT came into play and we structured the deal.”
The UPAC rehab project totals some $5.6 million, said Horodyski.
