TOWN OF ULSTER – There is sad news in the Town of Ulster. Retired
Police Chief Anthony Cruise died Thursday, following a battle with cancer.
Cruise, who was 48, retired last year when he contracted the disease.

Cruise was a 24-year member of the Ulster Police Department, working his
way through the ranks from police officer, detective, detective sergeant,
lieutenant and retiring as police chief.

Town Supervisor James Quigley said the town lost a great civil servant,
police chief and good friend to many.

Police Lieutenant Lyle Berardi, the department’s officer in charge,
said if not for his illness, Cruise would still be chief.
