Police converge on Center Street in Town of Newburgh Friday evening

TOWN OF NEWBURGH – A 43-year-old man was in police custody Friday
night after he held family at bay in his Center Street home in the Gardnertown
area of the Town of Newburgh.
The Town Police Tactical Unit and City of Newburgh SWAT Team rushed to
the scene after town police received a report that the man, whose identity
police did not reveal, made threats that he would harm himself and family
members.
After he was urged to come out, he was taken to Newburgh Town Police headquarters
before he was to be transported to a hospital for psychiatric observation,
according to police.
