KINGSTON – The 18-month-old Patriots’ Project housing for veterans in Kingston has virtually eradicated homelessness among veterans in Ulster County, County Executive Michael Hein said.
The collaborative effort is costing the county a minimal annual allocation and is serving those who provided service to our country, said Hein.
“The funding for this is only $20,000 a year out of the $325-million county budget simply because we use vouchers from the VA,” Hein said. “We partner with the VA with this project so there is virtually no cost since we built the facility.”
The home provides housing for eight veterans at a time and avails them of several services.
