Six arrested in unemployment insurance theft sweep

WHITE PLAINS – Six individuals have been arrested and charged with the theft of state unemployment benefits. They were all charged with grand larceny and offering a false instrument for filing, both as felonies.
The investigation was conducted by the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office and the state Department of Labor.
Arrested were Michael Gonzales, 48, of Linden, New Jersey; Severino Livramento, 60, of Purchase; Egardo Villanueva, 52, of Cos Cob, Connecticut; Danilo Martinez, 65, of Purchase; Jose Noguera, 64, of Yonkers; and Ronilda De La Cruz, 52, of Rye Brook.
At the time the crimes took place all six were employed as seasonal workers at the Century Golf Club in Purchase.
The total amount of unemployment benefits stolen collectively by the defendants was over $109,000.
