Sex offender charged with failing to register new address

KERHONKSON – Members of the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office report the arrest of James Liotta, 33, of the City of Rochester.  Liotta was charged with the felony of sex offender registry violation, Failure to Register a Change of Address.
On November 17th, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Ulster County Department of Social Services, determined that a registered sex offender from the City of Rochester was living at a residence in Kerhonkson. Further investigation revealed that he moved from his registered address prior to November 2nd, 2016. He failed to notify law enforcement and the Department of Criminal Justice Services within ten days of moving. Deputies located the defendant in Kerhonkson and took him into custody.
Liotta was sent to the Ulster County Jail without bail.
