KIAMESHA LAKE – The last of the steel beams was hoisted into place on Thursday as Empire Resorts held a private “topping-off” ceremony at the site of the region’s future and only Las Vegas-style casino and resort, scheduled to open in 2018.

The ceremony marked the end of the project’s steel assembly in which some 10,000 beams have been put into place
for the external building structure.

“In a very short period of time we have come a very long way,” said Empire Resort Executive Vice President Charles Degliomini. “Montreign Resort Casino is already an engine for economic growth in the region, and today shows the progress we’ve made so far in making the resort casino a reality.” He called the topping off “a significant milestone” for the project, Sullivan County and the region.
The casino complex will also include an entertainment village, an updated Monster golf course, a water park and a nature trail.
