Convery

MAHOPAC – Putnam County Undersheriff Peter Convery died Tuesday, Sheriff Donald Smith announced. “He was a very good friend to me,” the sheriff said.
Convery, 65, suffered an apparent heart attack at his home in Mahopac at about 8:30 a.m. He was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead an hour later.
“We are all absolutely heartbroken,” Smith said. “Peter was a loving and devoted family man,”
Convery began his career with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office in 2002, after a long career with the Westchester County Department of Corrections, where he retired as a captain. His law enforcement career spanned over 40 years.
He was also a longtime member of the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department and was an active Rotarian. He was a parishioner of Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Mahopac.
