MIDDLETOWN – Common Council members adopted the city’s 2017 Middletown budget Tuesday night without discussion.
The board of estimate earlier this month approved the $38.3 million budget,
which is up only $263,569 over this year’s.  The budget includes
a tax levy increase of 0.39 percent.
At that time, Mayor Joseph DeStefano, a member of the board of estimate, called the spending plan “conservative.”
Several years ago, there was so much discontent among common council members that the budget wasn’t approved until New Year’s Eve.
