MONTICELLO – Standing room only in the lobby of the Sullivan County Government Center Friday morning for the annual Veterans Day ceremony, attendees honoring those who served who are still with us.

Etkin (podium): “No one segment of our population has been asked to do more for their country …”

The event was coordinated by Sullivan County Veterans Service Agency past director Al Etkin who delivered the keynote remarks, calling on all to thank veterans.
“Without them, their service and sacrifices, and the dedication
of those in uniform today, America would not be free,” Etkin said.
“Great respect and high honor to veterans of all ages.  No
one segment of our population has been asked to do more for their country
than veterans.  God bless all 22 million living veterans and God
bless the United States of America.”
Etkin noted that many of the well-publicized problems that affected the Veterans Administration and VA hospitals in other parts of the country are being successfully addressed.  He said, however, citizens should continue to put pressure on their elected representatives to make improving veteran services a top priority.
