WARWICK – Ever since they were six, identical twin brothers Declan
and Rory McTigue of Warwick have been philanthropists. To date, the boys
who recently celebrated their 13th birthday have asked for cash as birthday
presents, which they passed on to Blythedale Children’s Hospital
in Valhalla.
This year they collected over $4,000 for the Warwick Town Police Department. They presented the cash to the top brass on Friday.
Declan said his brother and he came up with the idea to donate all by themselves.
“We ask for checks and cash from the people instead of birthday
gifts. I think we gave around $30,000 to Blythedale and this is the first
year here,” Declan said.
Chief Thomas McGovern said the donation will be put to good use.
Rory and Declan, meanwhile, created Kids for Cops and urged others around the country to do the same for their local departments.
The brothers have another claim to fame as well – they are accomplished actors who have appeared on “All My Children,” “Boardwalk Empire” and “Law and Order: Criminal Intent.”
