Ulster County scores highest percentage of new jobs test

ALBANY – Ulster County experienced a four percent gain in new jobs
in the 12 month period from September 2015 to this September.

The state Labor Department also reported Thursday that the Orange-Rockland-Westchester
Metro Area had a 1.8 percent increase. The Dutchess-Putnam Metropolitan
Division had a 1.5 percent rate of job growth.

Sullivan County had a 1.0 percent rate of growth while Columbia County
broke even and Greene County lost 1.0 percent of its jobs.

During the same period, private sector employment in the Hudson Valley
grew by 1.9 percent, or 14,500 jobs.

Job growth was experienced in the in education and health services; trade,
transportation and utilities; natural resources, mining and construction;
professional and business services; and other services. Losses were centered
in manufacturing. The government sector added 400 jobs.

Statewide in the 12-month period, New York saw new jobs grow by 1.5 percent,
adding 115,100.
