Two men charged with stealing cable TV backup batteries from utility poles

HIGHLAND – State Police have arrested two hamlet of Wallkill men
on charges that they stole backup batteries from several sites in Ulster
County.

Tony Wallace, 44, and David Newman, 45, were charged with grand larceny,
criminal mischief and several counts of criminal tampering.

Police said while working as subcontractors for Time Warner Cable TV,
the two men allegedly stole batteries from utility poles damaging wiring
in the process.

Both were arraigned with Wallace being remanded to the Ulster County Jail
in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond. Newman was remanded on $25,000
cash bail or $50,000 bond.
