HYDE PARK – Municipal Officials from across the Hudson Valley came to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park on Wednesday to learn about opportunities the state has to offer for sustainable development.
State officials discussed grant opportunities and collaborations between the public and private sector, among other related topics.
Town of Warwick Supervisor Michael Sweeton, who attended the conference, pointed to the Village of Warwick, which has historically practiced sustainable growth.
“It has maintained a strong economic core in its downtown and it has provided the type of development they are suggesting, which is creative spaces, living spaces above stores, expanding out from its center, keeping its core intact,” Sweeton said.
State officials are hopeful that the information they provided to the locals
will benefit them when considering future growth.
