LAGRANGE – A Bronx woman is in the Dutchess County Jail following
an investigation into a bank fraud case.

Damaris Arocho, 41, was charged with felony criminal possession of a forged
instrument and misdemeanor criminal impersonation.

State Police said that on March 19, employees at the Chase Bank branch
on Freedom Plains Road in LaGrange reported that a woman entered the bank
with a counterfeit Connecticut driver’s license and attempted to
withdraw $1,400 from an account that she claimed was hers.

She fled the bank when she overheard employees contacting the actual account
holder by phone to verify the transaction.

Following an investigation, Arocho was identified as the suspect and a
warrant was issued for her arrest in September.

She was taken into custody in White Plains City Court where she appeared
for an unrelated court appearance.
