KINGSTON – New York City brainiacs will be visiting the Ashokan Center this weekend, for the second annual Catskills Conference, a techno getaway designed to introduce over 100 entrepreneurs to the area.
“You have to go, the Ashokan Center is a magical place,” said Ulster County Executive Michael Hein.   “When you go there, you are somehow taken away from everything. It’s this beautiful place where you can get back to nature, really enjoy, and still have all the necessary comforts.”

Among the visitors will be software engineers, graphic designers, and Internet startup executives. The conference is organized with help from the Ulster County Office of Economic Development. Director Suzanne Holt. Other partners include AT&T, local organic food vendors, and upstate folk musicians.
“Great work has been happening in this community for generations,” agreed conference co-founder Kale Kaposhilin, operations director for Evolving Media Network. “Let’s give them campfires to hang around, let’s give them great music, there’s going to be square dancing.  Let’s celebrate great work together, let’s have a wonderful time, and I guarantee you, amazing magical things are going to happen. I am really honored to be a steward of that experience; it’s about all of us working together, that’s how we will make the future.”
Sara Chips, founder of Godevelopit and Dennis Crowley, founder of Foursquare are a couple of the featured speakers this year.
